Transition

A painting series by artist Suzanne Wiggin.

Exhibit hanging at the Taos Center for the Arts in the Encore Gallery from June 27, 2014, through to September 21, 2014, with a reception on the 27th from 5-7pm.

Detailed Description:
For 38 years, Taos has been the home of artist, Suzanne Wiggin. As a teenager, her family moved to Taos from New Orleans. The move to Taos was the first time she had been west of the Mississippi River. The mountains, the altitude, the high desert, the gorge, the storms, a real winter and the community, all modeled her into a painter.

The exhibit is titled “Transition,” reflecting an ease into abstraction after twenty seven years as a predominately landscape painter. The death of her father was the catalyst for the change, altering her response to the world. “A loss caused a sorting and shifting, making me see differently. A distillation occurred, where bands of colors were extracted from land and sky,” stated Wiggin. Through paint and ink, an evolution is chronicled.
